ABOUT FPEC MONTE!
This Is Us—
We are a simple church with a simple message: Know Jesus and Make Jesus Known!
As a smaller church, we offer a stronger sense of intimacy, community, and familial connection: people know each other personally, are more involved, and feel a greater sense of belonging.
Smaller congregations, such as ours, require more active participation, meaning everybody has an opportunity to serve. So, if you are looking to discover or contribute your spiritual gifts, we invite you to be a valuable part of God’s family here at Monte FPEC.
Our Story—
In 1856, the First Presbyterian Church began to serve God in the community of Montezuma, and 20 years later a church structure was erected on the site of the present church parking lot. In 1971, the congregation moved to a newly built facility, and in 1987 the dream of a “Family Center” gymnasium was opened to the community.
The congregation left the Presbyterian USA denomination in 2011, and the name was changed to First Presbyterian Evangelical Church (of Montezuma).
After over 40 years in the pastorate, Pastor George Salnave retired in 2022. Since then, Interim Wayne Uppendahl with Interim Pastor Ministries has faithfully served until “next pastor” is called.
